Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga could be on the move ahead of this year’s NBA Trade Deadline. After spending the entire season in head coach Steve Kerr’s doghouse, Kuminga demanded a trade once he became eligible to be moved. ESPN reports that the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks are among the teams showing interest in a potential trade, with Golden State prioritizing expiring contracts.

Kuminga is playing on a two-year, $46.8 million contract that includes a team option for next season. Any team acquiring him can assess his performance over the rest of the season before deciding whether to retain him for next year or cut bait. Kuminga is currently injured, but he is expected back before the end of the season.

Golden State Warriors (-105)

The Golden State Warriors re-signed Kuminga to a two-year deal, including a team option in the second year, which gives them added flexibility. While Kuminga is eligible for a trade, the Warriors have not yet been given the type of offer they want to move him. Otherwise, he would have been gone already. The Warriors may still trade him, but since he has a team option, the Warriors could pick that up and decide to move him this summer instead, if the trade offers are superior.

Sacramento Kings (+600)

Of any team in the league, the Sacramento Kings are one of the teams that have been most strongly linked to Kuminga. The Kings have several veteran players the Warriors could be interested in, such as DeMar DeRozan and Malik Monk, if the Warriors were willing to make a trade with another team in the Pacific Division. We rate the Kings with a 14.3% implied probability; that would equate to +600 odds at sports betting sites.

Dallas Mavericks (+1000)

The Dallas Mavericks have been one of the top teams linked to Kuminga. While the Mavericks will likely miss the playoffs this year, they could look at Kuminga as a long-term fit for their squad. In return for Kuminga, the Mavericks could offer up Klay Thompson to the Warriors, reuniting Steph Curry with his fellow “Splash Brothers” partner in San Francisco.

Los Angeles Lakers (+1100)

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the top contenders in the Western Conference, but they are always looking to upgrade. The Lakers have several expiring contracts they could deal to the Warriors , but both teams are battling it out in the Pacific Division so it feels unlikely that they would be ideal trade partners. Therefore, the Lakers are a long shot for a trade.

Milwaukee Bucks (+1300)

The Milwaukee Bucks have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA this season. They will likely miss the playoffs, and superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been rumored to want out. Still, if the Bucks decide to double down and make one final run at a playoff spot, then picking up someone like Kuminga could be a potential option for them in a trade. Brooklyn Nets (+1500)

The Brooklyn Nets have the most cap space of any team in the NBA, with over $15 million available. That means they can send a smaller contract back to the Warriors and absorb the rest of Kuminga's contract into their cap space to make a trade work. If the Warriors are looking to shed salary and cut down on their luxury tax payment, then the Nets make sense as a potential trade partner, especially since they have an excess of draft picks and prospects to trade as well.

Other teams could acquire Kuminga, but it feels like some of the favorites to get him, such as the Kings or Mavericks, are much more likely.
